Question1: What makes you different from other tile setters?

Answer:

What makes Patoy Tile different from other tile setters, especially in the Lake County and Northern California area, is that cutting corners is not part of the business (unless it’s the corner of a tile). We specialize in custom inlaid tile for custom homes. There is no use of cheap or trendy materials, and we use older proven techniques to keep your tilework from cracking.

Question 2: Do you provide samples of tile?

Answer:

No. We don’t provide samples of tile. There’s no way to keep up on the constantly changing tile types. Literally, the amount of sample tile that I would have in inventory would take up more space than I have. What we do instead, is we have you go to a local tile store and pick out the style and type of tile that you like. Then I use the styles of tile that you have selected to create the custom look that you want in your home’s bathroom, kitchen, floor, showers and more…

Question 3: What are the differences between tile types?

Answer:

Glossy tile types are more prone to chipping than matte tile. Floor tiles tend to be more durable than other types of tile. Ceramic tile isn’t as strong as porcelain. If you have any questions about the type of tile that you should be looking for please give us a call and we would be happy to answer any questions you may have.

Question 4: How much will tile cost?

Answer:

The cost of tile can vary depending on the type of tile that you want to use for your project. There are definitely cheaper types of tile out there, but I would not recommend using cheap tile. The reason is cheaper tiles are more likely to crack and chip, and in the long run that can end up costing you more on installation than you would have paid for nicer tile upfront. Generally speaking, for the tile projects that we put together estimates for, we calculate roughly, a five-dollar per square foot cost for tile. This doesn’t include pricing for special tile types, and can vary depending on what type of tile is chosen. This would mean that when you go to your local tile store to pick out the type of tile that you want, you don’t look at the bottom end of what is available. We want the tile, marble, granite, glass blocks, cultured stone, or stone masonry that is put in your home to last a lifetime.

Question 5: Do you have a title cleaning service?

Answer:

No. Patoy Tile only does custom installations of inlaid tile, marble, granite, glass blocks, cultured stone, and stone masonry. If you need us to recommend a tile cleaning service for you we would be happy to do so.

Question 6: What kind of maintenance and care should I know about my custom inlaid tile, marble, granite, glass blocks, cultured stone, or stone masonry?

Answer:

One of the things to be most careful of when caring for your inlaid tile, cultured stone, and stone masonry is to be aware of what is in cleaning chemicals and compounds that you use. For example, don’t use anything acidic with any type of stonework. If you happen to get an acidic type of cleaning chemical onto a stone product it can etch away at the face of the stone and destroy the way that the stone finish looks.
